Sharmaine Antwine (Executive Director/Choreographer) is a graduate of Suitland Visual and Performing Arts High School where she studied
under the direction of Pamela Moore (National Ballet Institute for the Arts), Fran Peters (Fran’s School of Dance), Marilyn Byers (Hopkins Dance Company), Barbara Marks, and Linda Darr in Ballet, Jazz , Modern, and Tap. She has been dancing and teaching for over 30 years. Mrs. Antwine has danced with Columbia Park Dance Group under the direction of Ms. Sylvia Alexander performing in local community events, and pageants. She has also danced with the renowned Northeast Performing Arts Group under the direction of Ms. Rita Jackson, performing in countless productions such as “The Wiz”, “Secret Garden”, and “Kids on Broadway” and many local dance competitions. She has competed in competitions locally and Nationwide such as Showtime at the Apollo, Hal Jackson’s Talented Teen Competition and Talent America in New York City. Sharmaine founded Starlite Dance Academy in January 2007. Starlite Dance Academy has performed at such venues as: The Black Family Reunion at the National Monument, The Beltsville Area Research Center’s Public Field Day, Adams Morgan Day, Blue Streakz Basketball Halftime Show, Extreme Teens Teen Fest, and 2014 MNCPPC Basketball Championships. In 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 2019 she helped choreograph teams that won 1st place and 2nd place trophies in NexStar and Talent America Finals in New York City. Starlite Performing Arts also participated in The D.C. Black Theatre Festival in Washington D.C. in 2014. Ms. Sharmaine is currently the owner of Starlite Dance Academy Upper Marlboro MD and has served the community for 16 years.
