Sharmaine Antwine (Executive Director/Choreographer) is a graduate of Suitland Visual and Performing Arts High School where she studied
under the direction of Pamela Moore (National Ballet Institute for the Arts), Fran Peters (Fran’s School of Dance), Marilyn Byers (Hopkins Dance Company), Barbara Marks, and Linda Darr in Ballet, Jazz , Modern, and Tap. She has been dancing and teaching for over 30 years. Mrs. Antwine has danced with Columbia Park Dance Group under the direction of Ms. Sylvia Alexander performing in local community events, and pageants. She has also danced with the renowned Northeast Performing Arts Group under the direction of Ms. Rita Jackson, performing in countless productions such as “The Wiz”, “Secret Garden”, and “Kids on Broadway” and many local dance competitions. She has competed in competitions locally and Nationwide such as Showtime at the Apollo, Hal Jackson’s Talented Teen Competition and Talent America in New York City. Sharmaine founded Starlite Dance Academy in January 2007. Starlite Dance Academy has performed at such venues as: The Black Family Reunion at the National Monument, The Beltsville Area Research Center’s Public Field Day, Adams Morgan Day, Blue Streakz Basketball Halftime Show, Extreme Teens Teen Fest, and 2014 MNCPPC Basketball Championships. In 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 2019 she helped choreograph teams that won 1st place and 2nd place trophies in NexStar and Talent America Finals in New York City. Starlite Performing Arts also participated in The D.C. Black Theatre Festival in Washington D.C. in 2014. Ms. Sharmaine is currently the owner of Starlite Dance Academy Upper Marlboro MD and has served the community for 16 years.
D’anna (D) Patterson (Choreographer)
is a Prince George’s County Native who has a passion for dancing, creating, and performing! A graduate of Bowie State University where she has studied and performed in many genres and has had to opportunity to share her talents with many audiences! She is known for her big stage presence and amazing energy! D’s biggest dance accomplishments are performing for the amazing Judith Jameson and placing 2nd overall at her first dance competition as a coach and teacher. D’s goal is to continue to share her gifts and talents and to also lend a hand into serving her community!
Tyesha Stevens (Choreographer)
Aspiring Film Director, Professional Model and Photographer, Tyesha recently graduated from Virginia State University with a degree in Mass Communications and Business Management. She strives to make a difference in her community through small projects and various businesses. Look out for her next developments coming soon.
Naomi Rutherford (Choreographer)
Naomi Rutherford has been dancing since she was in the 8th grade. Naomi is a graduate of Dr. Henry. A. Wise Jr. High School class of 2015. While attending Wise High School Naomi was part of the school dance company in 2012- 2015. She is a recent graduate of Prince George’s Community College for her Associates Degree. Naomi Rutherford has been a proud alumni at Starlite Dance Academy since she was in 8th grade and has been in several of our summer productions, Such as The Lion King , Hercules, Pocahontas, and Aladdin. Now Naomi is working towards using her skills as a dancer to become a choreographer that challenges young and upcoming dancers.
Lawrence Antwine – (Choreographer)
is a Senior at Dr. Henry A. Wise High School in P.G. County. He is the President of the Young Pharoahs Mentoring Academy, School Announcer, Homecoming Prince, and a dancer for the Repertory Dance Company at Wise. He also has 2 jobs working at Arby’s and Starlite Dance Academy’s After school Program as a Tutor and Choreographer for kids. All awhile holding a 3.5 grade average. Lawrence loves working with the kids, He has a strong passion to stay in his community and will be working on obtaining a Computer Science Degree at Prince George’s Community College in the fall.
